Questions about BAP & UCSD Chapter:

Is Beta Alpha Psi a fraternity?

No! We’re a nonprofit international honorary and service organization for that have declared a concentration in accounting, finance, business analytics or digital technology. 

Is there a rushing process?

No! All Candidates and Members must engage with chapter members, our university community and professionals in their field of concentration.

Who can join Beta Alpha Psi?

We are open to students of all academic years and majors at the University of California, San Diego and the RADY School of Management that have declared a concentration in accounting, finance, business analytics or digital technology.

Why a GPA requirement?

Beta Alpha Psi is an honorary organization. By maintaining strict GPA requirements, Beta Alpha Psi has been able to cultivate an excellent reputation among accounting professionals.

Why are there required hours?

Each Beta Alpha Psi Chapter is required to meet activity requirements. The hour categories are broken down as Professional, Community Service, and Other.

Is joining worth it?

Yes! Membership in Beta Alpha Psi provides a large variety of benefits. You will learn more about your field that might not be provided in classes. It also offers opportunities to meet with professionals that are experienced in various areas/fields related to your major.

Membership Questions & Expectations:

When can I join Beta Alpha Psi?

Applications are typically open during the first 3-4 weeks of school every quarter. For more information, check out our applications page.

A sash for graduation?

You must either initiate as a Candidate or be a Member at the end of the semester to receive your sash. Seniors in their final semester that join BAP for the first time can receive their sash if they pass candidacy.

I am a freshman. Can I join?

Absolutely! We believe that it is imperative to start early. By joining as a freshman, you will be much better educated than your peers as you’ll have access to peer and alumni mentoring. Besides this, you’ll have experience at our events and receive opportunities usually given to older Candidates.

Membership fee includes?

A lifetime membership fee in Beta Alpha Psi, a LinkedIn headshot, access to multiple exclusive events, mentorship, socials, conferences, various other professional meetings and other functions.

How long to complete hours?

You have the entire year to complete your hours! We suggest completing them as early as possible so that you aren’t rushing to complete them at the last second. The hours reset every year.

Are all events mandatory?

No! You may pick and choose which events you’d like to attend. If you’re not in Beta Alpha Psi, you can alternatively join the United Accounting Society to have access to many of our events. If you aren’t a member of either, you may be subject to a fee for attending certain events or may not be able to attend.
