Membership Goals
Beta Alpha Psi is an international honorary and service organization, limited to those persons who have achieved scholastic and/or professional excellence in the fields related to accounting, finance, business analytics or digital technology. We know that nationally, most employers target Beta Alpha Psi members exclusively for their recruiting process because they know that our student members are proven and will likely exceed their hiring requirements.
Our chapter is committed to developing student members that can make an effective transition into their fields of study.
Chapter activities and schedule are planned to accomplish the following goals:
Help students build their professional skills.
Foster interest in current career topics by connecting academic preparation with the practice of accounting.
Provide an avenue for students to build relationships with accounting professionals. Instill a lifelong commitment to service.
Our goal is to become an engaged chapter. We do this through engagement, usually informative and usually fun! Our professional meetings, service activities, socials and recruiting fairs all provide opportunities for members to develop relationships with prospective employers.
Membership Requirements
Concentration of Studies
We are open to students of all academic years and majors at the University of California, San Diego and the RADY School of Management that have declared a concentration in accounting, finance, business analytics or digital technology.
Academic Requirements
In addition to this declaration of concentration, you must meet one of the following academic achievement requirements:
You must achieve and maintain an overall GPA minimum of 3.0 in your major or area of concentration. If you are a transfer student, you are welcome to apply, but will require a 3.30 transfer GPA (if you do not have a USCD GPA yet), or
If you have a GPA below 3.0, you may petition for waiver of the 3.0 requirement. We will strongly consider your application if you can share with us:
Why your grades are slightly under 3.0 (e.g. transition into university life, change in major, difficulty of classes taken) and
Show that your academic performance is doing better and will continue to improve and meet the 3.0 GPA requirements in the future, or
You have applied and provisionally been accepted into the Master of Accountancy, Finance or Business Data Analytics graduate degree programs at RADY School of Management.
